We bought a house we could afford with a fixed interest rate. The problem is the price has dropped for us to sell it, and we have basically lost all the money we put into it. When we do sell we are not going to buy again.

You missed my point completely. I’m vehemently against the bailout. Point being the jerks who signed these loan contracts should have read the print and take responsibility for what they signed. If it was a variable rate loan and they were stupid enough to sign it pretending it would never go up, that’s THEIR problem. Noone should have to bail out anyone because they have contract remorse. many folks I know who got foreclosured didn’t have a problem paying for their house until the damn interest rates went up on the loans. it wasn’t really people buying homes they couldn’t afford so do speak, the payments were being made until the interest rates went through the roof. In any case, it was a big scam in the end…
The Housing Bubble was created by the Federal Reserve who lowered interest rates and people bought homes they could not afford, now the Fed has done it again and gas is expensive and we cant afford to heat our homes now

The thing is they keep telling us to be “free-traders” but how can we have “free” trade when it’s not “fair” trade? Our government signs agreements willy-nilly with all these countries and they benefit from getting into our markets by dumping cheap products here but they don’t import any of our products and the import/export ratio benefits them but not America. As it stands now China will overtake us if we don’t soon fix it.

You can’t fault people for wanting the “American Dream”. A lot of these people got suckered into a mortgage scam. They signed 1 mortgage only later to find out that they didn’t qualify for it and we’re offered another option that was designed to screw them into the ground. They jumped on ship without knowing the details of the scam that they bought hook-line and sinker. We can all learn from this and not become victims again.America needs to get itself back into the “driver’s” seat.
