The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County, Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOPs effort to challenge some voters on Election Day. We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people arent voting from those addresses, party chairman James Carabelli told Michigan Messenger in a telephone interview earlier this week. He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed. State election rules allow parties to assign election challengers to polls to monitor the election. In addition to observing the poll workers, these volunteers can challenge the eligibility of any voter provided they have a good reason to believe that the person is not eligible to vote. One allowable reason is that the person is not a true resident of the city or township. The Michigan Republicans planned use of foreclosure lists is apparently an attempt to challenge ineligible voters as not being true residents. One expert questioned the legality of the tactic. You cant challenge people without a factual basis for doing so, said J. Gerald Hebert, a former voting rights litigator for the US Justice Department who now runs the Campaign Legal Center, a Washington DC-based public-interest law firm. I dont think a foreclosure notice is sufficient basis for a challenge, because people often remain in their homes …

Obama worked with ACORN to sue mortgage banks to loan to those who would most likely default when rates climbed. Isn’t it funny that just under a decade after doing that he would be in charge of the place. If you buy more home than you can afford, and the bank takes it back, you can vote for ever more lenient loans and low interest subsidized by the rest of us living in apartments everywhere. Thats fair I guess.

Here’s what I don’t get. On the one hand you site how Palin made a social program due to circumstances that would otherwise hurt Alaska, and yet on the other you poo poo Democrats for introducing a social program during a National economic crisis. Isn’t the Palin example proof that such programs, given the right circumstances, can be necessary or beneficial? I’m not advocating rampant Socialism, but socialistic programs can have beneficial results if applied correctly, yes?

I agree, I dont like social programs like Palins $1,200 energy assistance program. But the price gouging by the oil companies was hurting the Alaskans that were working to extract that very oil. Alaska, with a fiscal surplus, was witnessing the collapse rural infrastructure. Something needed to be done and Palin took it upon herself to see that her people were taken care of, while maintaining a budget surplus. Democrats push entitlement rather than personal achievement.

i heard some banks don’t mind holding onto their properties: this way they get more money from the insurance/underwriters companies.
even though REO means bank owned, one real estate agency is selling the property. if they have on offer they chose not to present the offer to the bank (my own case), unless the offer comes close to what they expect to get for the property. therefore, they tell you -the buyer- that there are more offers on the unit and if you want to get it you have to come up with more money. (but there were no offers the day i presented mine.) WHAT O JOKE!!!!!!
Jonstein, if I do my diligence then what do I pay the real estate for? Should they be representing since I pay them? What is their commission for? For lying? Some agents told me to offer 10,000 to 20,000 above the asking price, are we in the seller market again? Real Agents and Brokers don’t represent buyers or sellers they represent their own interest.
Not all realtors are like that. Only the desperate greedy ones are. Either way you should do all of your own due diligence, no matter who your’e dealing with.
How can we trust real estate agents? They say stuff that don’t make any sense most of the time, in other words they just lie through their teeth.
